Mackay.. Sounds like Mac-Eye or sometimes sounds like Magee in the Strathnaver region of Scotland. In Gaelic it is known as the Clann MacAoidh or MacAoidgh. Through the many histories of this clan, including the mythical connection to the Morgans.. most historians trace the origins to the Irish tribe of C'nel Lorne which landed in Argyle in Scotland around 710 A.D. In the 1600's the Chiefs of Mackay demonstrated fierce loyalty to the Crown choosing not to become Jacobites. The glory days of Mackay
country has been best told by the great Gaelic poet Rob Donn Mackay.. his importance should not be underestimated. Today's Mackay descendant display the courage, work ethic, perseverance, and world renowned honesty that is the essence of a true Mackay!
"IF YOU CANNA TRUST A MACKAY, WHO THEN CAN YE TRUST!"
